To the website of the Bailliage des San Juan, Puerto Rico of the Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, the world's oldest gastronomic organization. San Juan is known as “La Ciudad Amurallada” (the walled city). Founded in 1521, it is the Caribbean capital of nightlife and entertainment. At night, San Juan comes alive like few other places in Puerto Rico, where you can indulge in bar hoping, fine dinning and Vegas-style gaming.

The city also attracts visitors who seek the peace and serenity of leisurely walks along the waterfront, down a cobbled street or next to a historic monument. Some prominent in daylight, the monuments attain a magical quality at sunset, the glory and splendor of the Spanish colonial architecture, the experience transports visitors to a place somewhere in the mists of 500 years of history.
